lol, Did someone say you need an Associates degree to be an Officer? If that was the case then you'd be calling me Sir. You need a BACHELORS degree, prefereably something useful to the AF to be an Officer.

I joined the AF in 1978 and ended up staying for 11 years. Just remember, during BMT, it's not forever. I had absolutely no problem in Basic and alot of other people in my Squad did. The main thing to keep in mind is: Do what they tell you. It really is that simple. If you can follow directions and keep your emotions in control, you'll do fine. It was a wonderful experience and I would encourage anyone to do it.

Boy are you in for a

Boy are you in for a surprise. Yes it is Co-ed to a certain degree. The females live next door in there dorm and you live in your dorm. Only men in your dorm, from 30 to 50 of them. You get up at odark30, (about 0430), 5 minutes to make your bunk, get dressed and report down staris. LOTS of in your face SCREAMING. Days can run easily to 9 or 10 at night and you still have to spit shine your boots for tomorrow and iron your uniform. Its not the marines but it is discipline ALL the time. As far as the women, touch one and they kick you out with a bad conduct discharge. PE every day where you will do sit ups, push ups and more and run up to a mile and a half. There is also an obsticle course you will have to pass before graduation. You also have classes every day and a test on it all that you HAVE to pass before you graduate. And forget your hair, buzz cut to the bone buddy. You look like a bunch of eggs in a carton. You can go out on the town on weekends only and ONLY if you have a pass which has to be earned. You will also scrub and clean everything from ceilings, floors, pots, pans you name it, on a regular basis. This is extra duty they seem to think you have time for. When you do get spare time it is taken up with studying, cleaning, boot shining, ironing or something similar. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my time, but it is NOT a PICNIC. Any more questions you can contact me at home at work at jim.ford@lifeway.com Thanks.
