Someone Asked about PAy and Allowances
hello,
They will pay you BAH (Basic Allowance for Housing) if you live on base and both BAH&BAS(Basic Allowance for Subsistence) if you live off base. BAS is standard rate w/ or w/out dependents and is the same through out the ranks.
Enlisted BAS= $241.60/mo
Officer BAS= $166.37/mo
Both are going to depend on rank and w/ or w/out dependents. You probably won’t get paid this untill you reach tech school. You can finde all the pay rates and allowances on the net, www.dfas.mil/money/milpay/pay. I will give an example, Since their handing out E-3 Like candy ill use A1C as the example.
Basic Pay= $1303.50/mo
BAH w/ dependents= $450.90/mo
BAH w/out dependents= $332.40/mo
Difference of $125.70
Partial BAH= $7.80.
There’s alot of what you need to find right on the net. if you can't cant it, call me, I'm here to help you out. My # is 919 751 9657 and my name is Brock. ttyl
Good Luck and make this country proud

HEY BROCK! WHY DO U RECOMEND
HEY BROCK! WHY DO U RECOMEND NOT GOING IN FOR 6? DONT U GET A STRIPE GOING IN IF YOU SIGN UP FOR 6? PLEASE LET ME KNOW THANKS.
Hey, Yes, you can get stripes
Hey,
Yes, you can get stripes comming in(up to E-3) and in some cases based on how bad they need people in certain career fields a big bonus too, but that has its pros and cons. If you want to do 6, do it as a second termer, not first.
(1) you might want to get out at the 4 yr mark, and try other options. College, better job, make more money, Officer, Guard/Reserves, crosstrain.
(2)If you decide you dont like it then your not stuck in hell for 2 more yrs. In that time you could have been out you could have done so many other things, including made double or triple the money especially in the computer, ATC, meteorology ect. career fields. Why do you think the bonus is so high? you think their giving out money for fun? Its because they can't keep people in the military. They are undermanned so in order to get you in the door they have to pony up the dough.
(3)Usually the bonus they give you usually ends up not being worth it, they give you half and divide up the rest of it up for evey year for the rest of your enlistment. What happens if you can't fulfill your contract? you get to pay it back. So if you get a fat sign on bonus, don't spend it b4 you get out. Save it, put it in the bank, invest it... whatever, just dont blow it on impulsive decisions. (ie. Corvette)
(4)Talk to others who signed up for 6yrs ask them how happy they are about it. Any time I ask someone about the 6 yr enlistment they wish they didn't.
(5) dont get greedy just because you see $$$ to sign on. If you really like it you can make more $$ on the second term.
(6) Base pay for E-1 through E-3, O-1 throuh O-3 and O-1E through O-3E(Prior-Enlisted Pay)
How much $$ would you rather make?
E-1(<4mos)= $1022.70/mo
E-1(>4mos)= $1105.50/mo
E-2= $1239.30/mo
E-3= $1303.50/mo
O-1= $2097.60/mo
O-2= $2416.20/mo
O-3= $2796.60/mo
(Prior-Enlisted Officer pay w/ at least 4yrs & 1 day of Active duty time as enlisted member)
O-1E=$2638.50/mo
O-2E=$3276.30/mo
O-3E=$3698.70/mo
Just remember this is my opinion, advice and my rationale. You are the final word on who makes the decisions. who knows more than someone whos never been in the military already? If you have more questions call me, 919 751 9657 my name is Brock.

Hey Brock thanks for being so
Hey Brock thanks for being so helpful. Its to my understanding that you can apply for ots if your still enlisted. I have been talking to an OTS recruiter and i can apply for OTS while being enlisted once i get my degree. I am planning on signing for 6 first.I am going to be doing school also while being enlisted. I know of some Lieutenants who have done that and i also know of a captain who did that. I understand where you are coming from though and i plan on asking around some more before i sign.
Hey, Your welcome, Glad I can
Hey,
Your welcome, Glad I can be of some help. I too know some prior enlisteds that went by way of OTS and ROTC. I know 2 E-5's and 2 E-6's that are in the process of going the Officer route.Yes, you can apply to OTS while your enlisted, however you don't want to wait till you graduate to apply. You should do it starting your senior year of college. you can apply 127 days prior to graduating college. As you probably know that AF red tape takes a good bit of time. so start it as soon as you can. Also, Have you looked into other educational programs to finish school, like AECP(Airman Education Commissioning Program). Although, the longer you stay enlisted the higher the pay scale when you hit O-1E pay. All 4 of my former classmates have between 6-12 yrs in the Enlisted core.
