Kristy, AF basic is NOTHING like Full Metal Jacket, so don't worry! I went in at 17 and was made a squad leader, and I survived! Just focus on your training, and make some friends as well. Also, KEEP IN MIND that most of the "nastiness" of the MTI's is just a mind game. Obey their orders, but don't take anything they say personally. They just say mean things to get your attention and show who's in charge - it's not about you. You'll do great. Lori B.

look the airforce is nothing compared to Full Metal Jacket that is the Marines. You will not be going through anything like that I'm in the army and I've seen what goes on in the airforce and its nothing dont be worried.

Hey Kristy, I just joined the Air Force and leave Sept. 24, it's nothing like full metal jacket! lol..air force is the easiest boot camp and is only 6 weeks lond. A lot of the time there i hear is classroom time.

They will yell at you and they might make you feel crappy, but it's not full metal jacket. They aren't allowed to curse at you or touch you in any way. It's not the marines, it's the airforce. Pay attention, do what you're told and you'll be fine. Trust me. It's the easiest bootcamp of them all. you run 25 minutes a day 3 times a week...do aerobics three other days a week. You can go to church on the weekends...sometimes you get patio breaks where you can eat junk food and call home... they break you down to build you up and make you a better person. kinda like your first bad relationship (haha) you're always better afterwards...less naive and ready for the world....you should go for it...good luck!
