Hey,
This is Brock, Oh geez not another basic training question,LOL.I was at basic 4 yrs ago, does that count? Just so you know this was a prewritten post for someone else that asked the same question. Hopefully this applies to you. At least you didn't join the Marines. Basic Training is nothing more than a mind game. It’s not hard, but its still a challenge for the week and feeble minded. Hopefully while you've been waiting to go into BT that you have been preparing yourself for all the running, pushups and set-ups that you will be doing. If your not the most athletic man/woman on the planet I advise you to get it going. If you don't know the physical requirements, ill remind you. Run 2 mi in 20 min, do 14+ push-ups, and 38+ set-ups.(males) Run 2mi in 18 min, do 35+ push-ups,45+ set-ups. I add the (+) in there coz they don't want you to do the minimum. You have to do as many as you can w/in 2 min. PC is 5 days/ a week and you alternate days running and calisthenics. You sound like you have a good height to weight ratio, so I don't suggest worrying about losing weight, just work towards getting stronger. Make sure you eat as much as you can while you can; you only have a few min to eat because they have to move that many more peeps through the chow hall. If you hear "HYDRATE AND VACATE!" its time to drink all you can and get out. Its important to eat as much as you can cozy if you don't consume enough calories then you will lose more weight. You will burn an amazing amount of calories while at BT. Along w/ working out as much as we do at basic your appetite will increase to compensate for all the energy your using. A good rule of thumb, if you workout.... eat more. Personally when I was at basic I was 5'10 and 159 and I lost 10 lbs in 2 weeks but I got it all back and then some when I went to tech school, I was working out like a fiend so I gained a few lbs in muscle. You will have 3 weigh ins while at basic. Also another weight loss factor.... Stress. The first 2 weeks are pretty intense if you noticed you haven't done a #2 then its the stress binding you up, and sooner or later it will catch up to you. I think it took me a week b4 I hit the head. Your not going to get much sleep either, first night your there expect about 4 hrs of sleep. Be ready, as soon as you step off the buss, that's when the fun begins. Week 2 or 3 is when you get your pics taken, along w/ picking your jobs and more processing. Teeth, eyes and uniforms. Zero week you will be in civi'still you get your uniforms.
All about the 3rd week is when the Ti's start loosening up, and they start doing their weeding of recruits, meaning that's when they start washing back the dead weight. For some peeps it’s a good thing because they’re giving you another chance to get through it. It beats getting booted. There’s a fairly decent washout rate in basic training. I saw about 4 washouts and about 5 wash backs in my group not including the women. Some squads have coed flights, sister or brother flights, not all of them have that though, its luck of the draw. Once you settle in to the Dorms, they will establish details for everyone that will be done everyday after PC. PC starts at 0430 am, you will go straight to the pad and do roll call and sing the Air Force song and then proceed to the parade grounds and depending on the day, do your running or calisthenics. Slowly as time goes on you will earn certain privileges back, like going to the patio and making phone calls and eating junk food out of the vending machines. When everything has been taken away form you, junk food and candy become a delicacy. Don’t Forget those Core Values either, Integrity First, Service B4 self, and Excellence in all we do!

All I wanted was some tips...not a mile long smart ass response. There is no law that states you have to respond to a message, so don't act like you are doing the world a favor. Heaven forbid someone ask a question and expect a reasonable and intelligent response. It' too bad the world isn't as perfect as you apparently are...what a wonderful world it would be...
Thats all well and good, but there is no need to come across as a complete ass. If you ask a simple question you expect a simple answer. And being in for 4 yrs doesn't make someone a definitive expert on anything.
437 i agree with u brock do act like an ass, just read the 1 post about the weight.he don't have toanswer everybody posts, if he didn't act like an ashole he would be koo,but he does.
I totally agree. I knew people that are in the Air Force and they don't act like total hard on assholes. So its no surprise why he is out after 4 yrs. Whether he goes back in the future is irelevant, all I know is he needs to relax.
Hello,
As I see many of your have read me wrong, which I find disappointing because that is not the impression I wanted to make. Maybe you misunderstand me, I donât claim to be perfect. I claim to know something about the AF in the measly 4 years that I was in. I guess this means that the 4 yrs that I or anyone else has served are totally worthless? You might call it being carried away, smartass, or what have you but I call it being ate up, and a strong sense of pride for the USAF.
Are you still in the airforce? while in the airforce did you regret going? what are some of the easy jobs in the airforce for females? the reason for me asking is that i want to go to the airforce. where would i go for basic traning?(i live in georgia)

I dont know about easy jobs for women, all i know is that women can do just about anything that the men can do. prolly even better, so its like pick your poision. Ok so this may seem like a crazy question but my boyfriend starts basic in feburary and I wanted to know if there's anything I can get for him (like a gift for christmans or something) that he'll be able to use or need. I don't know what you are allowed to bring to basic and am also curious about things such as how often I can write...and if he can write ect... THanks.
